Westlake Hike

May 1999

This was a beautiful hike just a 5 minute drive away from the Westlake Village Inn. I did this hike just about everyday. It was extremely isolated considering the location.
Hiking with Mike on another day we came upon a big snake near here. We are unsure whether it was poisonous or not? Luckily, It headed away from us.

The beginning of the hike
Crest of the first hill

Here we have crested the first hill which is really only about a 15 minute hike from the first photo. A friend from Singapore, Kok Hong and Mike pose happily. This was Kok Hong's first official hike.
Not far along we get a good view of the WestLake. I believe it is used as a reservoir, there were no boats or people around.

The first Lake view

Trail along the lake

The trail follows along side the lake from here and the views are just incredible.

Lake from farther up the trail
Here we are almost at the top end of the lake
and another looking down the lake.

Taking a good look down the lake

From the top

The trail got very steep near the top. When we finally reached the peak the views were breath taking.

City view

On the way back down we decided to walk along the ridge that secludes this paradise from reality.

Outback Steakhouse

At the end of the trip Kok Hong, Mike and I took in a great meal at the Outback Steakhouse.
Another fantastic hike for the memory book.
